PLANT

SUNFLOWER

Sunflower is a seasonal plant from the popular Asteraceae tribe, both as an ornamental and oil-producing plant. This plant flower is very typical: large, usually bright yellow, with a large flower head (diameter can reach 30 cm). This flower is actually a compound interest, composed of hundreds to thousands of small flowers in one hump. Sunflowers also have a unique behavior, that is, the flowers are always facing / leaning towards the sun or heliotropism.

There are four groups of cultivation for sunflowers which are distinguished based on their used.
1. Oil-producing groups, used seed oil.
2. Animal feed group, harvested leaves as feed or green fertilizer.
3. Ornamental plant group, which has a variety of petal colors and has many flowering branches
4. Kuaci group, for its seeds to be harvested as food.
TAXONOMY

SUNFLOWER LIFE CYCLE
  • DAY 1st: seeds are plants
  • DAY 14th: shoots appear
  • DAY 75th: buds appear
  • DAY 90th: flowers bloom
  • DAY 120th-150th: seeds are ready to be harvested

The age of the sunflower depends on the media used. Based on the sources I found, sunflowers planted directly on the ground will live longer than those on pots, their lifespan can reach one year.
